AHS Unplugged
The coffeehouse vibe of acoustic music has visited Ashland High School, and there’s more coming your way. After school on January 14, a handful of talented students from AHS performed in the upper commons, with the audience seated up close and personal. Most of the soloists and duos had performed at the Talent Show a little while back, but showed a little something different this time around. Among other acts there was an a cappella version of a Janis Joplin song, father and son duets, and original works by multiple students.
The informal concert was initiated by our very own Michelle Zundel. After the seeing how much talent was displayed at the Talent Show, Zundel wanted to create more opportunities to shine a light on the many gifted students we have here at Ashland High School. Parents and community members helped her organize it, and the first round turned out well. Ashland Unplugged will make encore appearances in the future, hopefully attracting more students to perform and enjoy the music it produces.
Zundel also encourages students with ideas of what they would like to see happen around campus to take action. There is so much creativity and so many resources that she knows the possibilities are endless, once students start coming forward. Ashland Unplugged is just one example of what can happen when ideas take shape.
