Looking for something to do this summer? How about taking a road trip to go to a music festival. There are tons of festivals going on over the summer. Here are eight of the best hand raising festivals in the US.
The Governors Ball
A two day long festival that has been around since 2011. It’s located in Randall’s Island Park in NYC. The headliners in the 2015 lineup include Drake, the Black Keys, and Florence and the Machine. Charli XCX and Vance Joy are also set to perform during the festival. The festival has oodles food venues that include vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options. Also, there are games, photo booths, and many more activities to do at The Governors Ball.
Bonnaroo
A Music and Arts festival in Manchester, Tennessee. Billy Joel, Hozier, and My Morning Jacket are all performers in this festival, among many more artists. Bonnaroo also has a cinema part. A few interactive movies they will be screening is Mean Girls and all three if the Back to the Future. There are tons of activities that go on over the four days of the festival a few including light shows, and dance parties with djs.
Firefly
Is a festival in Dover Delaware that has been around since. It is a four day festival with headliners including Paul McCartney, Kings of Leon, and The Killers. There are camping grounds to camp at for all for days. There is a market where you can purchase festival goods. They also have a venue where you can purchase a pair of TOMS and customize them with the people that work there. One of the most popular venues there is The Thicket. The Thicket is a venue where everyone has on headphones and are listening to the same songs, but it is a silent dance party to everyone who is not wearing headphones.
Gathering of the Vibes
Is a 4 day long festival in Bridgeport Connecticut. Wilco, Ben Harper, and Weezer are three of the bands performing. There are craft and food venues that are available throughout the whole festival. There are places for camping and for bringing your RV. The festival has been going on since 1996, and has featured The Grateful Dead, Jane’s Addiction, Damian Marley and many more over the years.
Lollapalooza
Was originally started in 1991 and went on until 1997 when it ended. But it was revived in 2003 and features Alternative rock, hard rock, and heavy metal among other genres. This years lineup includes Metallica, Sam Smith, and Kid Cudi with tons of other bands performing. Lollapalooza has a Farmers Market and Food Venues with yummy food all available for purchase. The festival is in Grant Park, Chicago Illinois. The festival also has opportunities for festival goers to do something good for the environment, including a huge Rock and Recycling program.
Outside Lands
Is in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. The festival is three days long and has different performers every day. A few of the big performers include Milky Chance, Elton John, and Sam Smith. There are restaurants that come and serve food and there are also food trucks. There is a Botanical Garden, a museum, and a tea garden near the Golden Gate Park that can be visited while at the festival.
MusicFestNw
Is a three day festival in Portland Oregon. Foster the People and Modest Mouse will both be performing at the festival. There are activities to do, and lots of place to eat. There are also places to explore around Portland when the festival is not going on.
ACL(Austin City Limits) Is a festival in Austin Texas and goes on for two weekends. ACL has lots of food venues and food trucks. There are tons of activities going on over the two weekends and they’re are stalls with artistic things for sale. ACL has been going on since 2002 and is in Zilker Park. This years spotlight performers include Foo Fighters, Drake and The Strokes. There is no camping allowed in the Park but there are tons of hotels and places to explore in Austin.
