William crowley, a Ashland born senior was not always the artist he is today. As an athletic Freshman, he walked into Mark Schoenleber art class expecting it to be entertaining. What he didn’t expect was to discover a hidden artistic talent. Now, a painter and drawer, he is an aspiring artist Immersing himself in a new world of art.
For Crowley, art is a way to relax and express his character. Crowley never makes art in silence. He listens to music while he paints and draws, ranging from Rock to Rap. The genre always depends on his mood.
According to Crowley, job competition on Ashland’s art scene isn’t a free for all-survival of fittest, the community of ashland is just everybody trying to help everybody else.
His message to any young and aspiring artist is this: “Get out and do it. All the resources are at your disposal. Believe in yourself and don’t let anyone ever tell you you can’t.”
Starting as a sophomore, Crowley has showcased his art at several shows such as the Winter FIne Arts and the Rogue valley. For his senior project, he is planning his own show at the Ashland Art Center. He wants as many artists to come as possible. If you are an artist, and you would like to showcase your art call, or email him.
