Ashland High School’s 2013-2014 school year is coming to an end, but many events have yet to wrap up.
Ashland High School’s tracksters have been gearing up for their biggest meet of the season: Districts. On Saturday, May 10, there are track and field’s JV Districts. The competition will be taking place at South Medford High School. It starts at 10:00AM. Track and Field’s Varsity Districts will be on Friday, May 16 and Saturday, May 17. There are two days for Varsity Districts, the first day is for preliminaries and the second day is for finals. Varsity Districts will be in Bend at Summit High School. “Last year, Varsity Districts was inspiring because the athletes would motivate you, and you’d get to watch and participate with the best of the best.” says Riley Richmond, a sprinter on the Ashland High School track team.
Additionally, from May 1-11, AHS presents The Three Musketeers by Ken Ludwig, directed by Jonathan Drahos. Each performance will take place in the AHS Mountain Avenue theater. The play is a comedy and welcomes all ages. Over 50 students are involved in the program! The Three Musketeers are played by Joseph Yaconelli, and Noah Yaconelli and Sam Gostnell. “The Three Musketeers is an upbeat, exciting, lively and goofy play.” says one of the musketeers, Joseph Yaconelli.
Final exams for seniors will be from May 27 to May 29. Also on May 29, during advisory there will be the end of the year assembly. In the assembly, AHS will recognize the seniors, and the seniors will walk through a tunnel of AHS staff and teachers. AHS’s graduation of class 2014 will be on May 30 at 6:30pm. Principal Michelle Zundel will speak along with a few students. Following the graduation ceremony is Senior All Night, taking place at the Family Fun Center.
