It is time for the community to give back to those that are on the verge of foreclosure. Since the economy has been faltering the number of unsheltered pets has risen. The Southern Oregon Humane Society has been taking in all these animals in need. The Humane Society depends 100% on private donations and receives no tax dollars. An anonymous donor who adopted a dog a month before heard about the shelters financial struggle then donated $75,000 in his dog Georgia’s name. By the end of the summer they made $200,000. Then just last week, another anonymous donor gave $100,000. The shelter also wrote letters to their previous supporters. The fundraising director thanks everyone, saying “after 83 years of business it is wonderful to see the love being returned by the community. It has been a world win of fundraising, I can barely believe it.” The SOHS will continue to accept any donation. You can donate now at Southernoregonhumane.org and on Facebook.
