5 Books Everyone Should Read

5+Books+Everyone+Should+Read

This is a list of books that have earned world wide respect due to how they address real problems, and situations that we face in life.  Also, they’re just great stories that capture the imagination, and make a great read that keeps you entertained through out the winter.

1. The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon: After finding a mysterious book in a forgotten library, 10 year old Daniel Sempere is offered a great deal of money for the book by a aristocratic book collector. This makes Daniel wonder why this book is so important, so after a little research he finds that it is the only book of its kind, but what he doesn’t know is that people are willing to kill to keep it secret. This is  a romantic mystery that takes place during the 1920’s and 1930’s in Barcelona, Spain. It is Built on beautifully described characters that will earn your love, and your loathing, making it absolutely unforgettable.

2. The Passage by Justin Cronin:   A transformational virus sweeps through the U.S. during 2020, killing many and turning the rest into monsters. Fallow the  immortal girl, Amy,  as she looks for the last of human life, all the while dodging the never ending hoard of what use to be humans. This book is about how mankind copes during, and after the apocalypse; trying to survive against impossible odds.

3. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald: With wild parties that go until the sun rises, and guest lists that consist of New York’s most influential elites, Mr. Gatsby draws a lot of attention from is neighbor, Nick Carraway, who starts to wonder more and more “who is this mysterious Mr. Gatsby”. Taking place during 1922, in Long Island, New York City, this Romantic Tragedy; greatly influenced by the aftermath of World War I and the effects it had on the daily lives of the American people, is a classic.

4. A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin: While families wage war on each other through out the seven kingdoms there is a dark, and cold force gathering power in the northern lands that threatens the lives of everyone in the kingdom. With their eyes focused on the petty squabbles of mankind, will the feuding families be able to notice the gathering force before it destroys them all. This is the first book in the Song of Ice and Fire series which takes place In the realm of the seven kingdoms during an unknown time. This is a Fantasy with a sword and shield approach that is full of deception, honor, love, and politics; the perfect recipe for an exceptional tale.

5. Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut: A satirical novel that focuses on the the experiences of Billy Pilgrim, an ill trained American soldier, during World War II. The book shows how people deal with hard times by using humor, and how we use our free will, or the lack there of.
