Volunteers across Jackson County got together this past Saturday to give the community’s Down syndrome children and adults an Annual Holiday Party. Over 50 people affected by Down syndrome and their families attended the party. After a home made lunch the group of children were entertained by a balloon clown, face painter, DJ and Santa. Each child and adult got a present from Santa a balloon animal, and their face painted, along with the option of doing crafts with volunteers.
“Every one had a great time,” said Ann Marie Hutson, The executive director of the Down Syndrome Association of Southern Oregon. Anne Hutson is hoping to expand across nine other counties in Southern Oregon.
The Down Syndrome Association of Southern Oregon works with families and group homes that have Down Syndrome Children and Adults. Parties, such as the Holiday Party, are given once a year.
