The Ashland High School Water Polo Team, lead by Coach Christi Gilmore and Assistant Coach Andrew Del Carlo, started the season strong on August 23. The first two weeks got the players ready for the intense upcoming games. On September 15, Ashland won all three games against Medford. The Junior Varsity Boys’ won 4-3, Girls’ won 19-3, and the Varsity Boys’ won 18-1.

Created by the Scottish and English, the game first appeared as a swimming skilled sport in 1870. Each team has one goalie, and 6 other players that try to maneuver the ball down the pool and get it past the goalie on the other team. As confirmed by Del Carlo, the game is as violent as people say it is.
